Kraus will be reading from her new book, ALL GOD'S CHILDREN. Here's what the critics have to say:
"A fast-paced, involving family drama that tackles a headline-grabbing religious sect… Kraus displays a tremendous talent for making the most unsympathetic characters three-dimensional… Grace (is) a compelling fictional creation." – Kirkus Review
Kraus brings decades of experience as a therapist and mediator to her writing. Her novel ALL GOD'S CHILDREN is the second book in a recently released series set in a fictional Lawrence. It tackles provocative social and political issues. Her protagonist, Grace McDonald, is unconventional. While both novels contain mystery and psychological thriller elements, they are not traditional in the genre.
Kraus takes the adage “Write what you know” to heart, and is serious about research. Like spending all night watching homicide autopsies in the bowels of an inner-city morgue for the autopsy scene in her first book, FALL FROM GRACE. Or going to church services at the funeral-picketing, gay-bashing Westboro Baptist Church and then interviewing current and past members for ALL GOD'S CHILDREN.
ALL GOD'S CHILDREN centers on a custody battle over a child in the gay-bashing, funeral-picketing Westboro Baptist Church. Kraus will share the challenges of trying to understand … and then communicate through fiction … the theology, motivations and beliefs of a family and church that are almost universally despised. Her selections will reflect the points-of-view of very different characters.
